The Internet can be used for a multitude of purposes: research, entertainment, work, faxing, correspondence, and communication. The world wide web is one massive tool readily and easily available for nearly all of your needs.
Utilization
The Internet can be used to watch TV shows and viral videos, listen to music, learn about a subject you’re interested in, or reconnect with friends that you haven’t seen in a while and lives thousands of miles away. Several companies now conduct business online, making it possible for employees to work from home and conduct business with customers and clients overseas.
Types of Internet Ionnections
The most widely used types of Internet connections are dial-up,
DSL, cable and satellite. Each type is dependent on where you’ll be accessing them from. Dial-up connections use phone lines and phone ports found on the back of computers. When using dial-up internet you won’t be able to use the phone line to accept or make calls.
DSL and cable Internet connections are closely related in that they both require special cables and modems to properly work. Both have varying speeds that you can choose from depending on your budget, how many people will be connecting to the Internet, and the speed you would like.
Satellite Internet is the best option for users that don’t have access to either a phone line or cable. Although it can be more expensive than any other kind of Internet, it is faster than DSL Internet.
Financial Limitations
Some things to take into consideration when choosing an Internet provider are budget. If you have limited funds then you might want to choose dial up Internet. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to stream movies, videos and music and neither will you have the ability to browse at rapid speeds.
If you don’t use the Internet often or for long periods of time and you have a laptop with WiFi capabilities, then you might want to consider going to a coffee shop or any other location that is a WiFi hotspot. These places usually don’t mind if you use their Internet as long as you buy a cup of coffee.
Alternatively, you have the option of seeing if your neighbors don’t mind you piggybacking on their broadband signal. If your computer is WiFi capable, this is just like having your very own Internet without the wires and modem.
Internet Service Providers
Make sure that you do your research before deciding on your Internet provider. Compare prices, speeds, specials and bundles in case you want TV, phone, and Internet with a single provider. Ask your friends and see what Internet provider they have and if they like them.
